Research Description: Dr. Patel is the Founder and Director of the Partnerships for Research in Child Health (PRCH) Lab at Stanford University, which uses community-based research to address child health disparities, focusing on obesity and chronic diseases in low-income and minority communities. The lab’s research informs policies and interventions promoting water consumption over sugary beverages and improving school meals to support nutrition security, while Dr. Patel also leads Stanford’s Office of Community-Engaged Research and serves as Associate Dean of Research in the School of Medicine, alongside seeing pediatric patients at Gardner Packard Children’s Health Center. Dr. Patel collaborates extensively with NORC member, Dr. Grummon.
