Research Description: Dr. Matheson's research interests include examining the psychosocial, neurocognitive, and familial factors related to disordered eating and excess weight gain in youth. In particular, Dr. Matheson has research and clinical expertise in the interplay among obesity, disordered eating, and autism spectrum disorder. She is interested in the development and implementation of evidence-based treatments for youth with disordered eating as well as a better understanding of factors that influence pediatric metabolic and bariatric surgery outcomes. Her research also focuses on the use of technology to enhance treatment and reduce access to care barriers. Dr. Matheson collaborates extensively with NORC member, Dr. Eric Stice.
