Joseph Wu, MD, PhD, Simon Stertzer Professor of Medicine and Radiology and Director of Stanford Cardiovascular Institute, Stanford University

Research Description: The Wu group is dedicated to making fundamental discoveries in cardiovascular medicine. They are especially interested in how obesity contributes to cardiovascular health with projects connecting obesity models to CV measurements and examining cardiovascular function in obese patients. They use a combination of multi-omics, molecular & cellular biology, tissue engineering, cardiovascular physiology, and imaging technologies to answer key biological questions. In addition to multiple leadership positions internationally or nationally, Dr. Wu has been deeply involved in fostering the development of the Stanford NORC P&F award program. Through his directorship of the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute (CVI), he has provided CVI funding to support the inception of the NORC P&F award. In addition, Dr. Wu serves on the Stanford NORC Internal Advisory Committee (IAC). Dr. Wu actively collaborates extensively with multiple groups led by NORC members, including Drs. Knowles, Gross, Ashley, Snyder, McLaughlin, and Maecker.
