Research Description: Our current research involves the role of signals in tissue maintenance, including tissues with a critical function in metabolism, such as the liver. We have developed methods to trace the developmental origin of the liver and to expand cells from the liver in culture including hepatoblastoma cells. We have a recent interest in understanding the role of Wnt signals in the cell cycle (Lim et al, 2013). This includes ongoing interests in liver cell growth and dynamics regulated by feeding and fasting (Sarkar et al, 2023). These interests align with our participation and support of Stanford NORC. We collaborate extensively with many members of the NORC.
