Research Description: Dr. Kim’s research program focuses on obesity and insulin resistance as initiators of metabolic dysfunction with downstream effects on reproduction and cardiac, kidney and liver diseases. She champions team science efforts to improve care of patients with obesity, prevent type 2 diabetes and increase screening and awareness of metabolic-dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease. She utilizes artificialintelligence powered tools such as natural language processing and digital technology to understand root challenges affecting patient care. Dr. Kim serves as the endocrine liaison for Stanford’s Department of Medicine Team Science initiative and co-directs SDRC’s Pilot & Feasibility Program. Dr. Kim collaborates extensively with many members of the NORC.
